Vehicle Arrangements

From Dharchula onward, roads in the Byans Valley are narrow, unpaved mountain tracks. 4x4 vehicles are mandatory per local administration and are driven by experienced drivers with thorough route knowledge. All vehicles are regularly inspected.

Jyolingkong is at approximately 4,570 m — well above the 2,500 m threshold where AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) can affect anyone, regardless of fitness level. Altitude illness is a physiological response to reduced barometric pressure, not a sign of weakness.

AMS symptoms: persistent headache, loss of appetite, nausea, unusual fatigue, breathlessness at rest, disrupted sleep. Report any symptom to your guide immediately. Do not push through severe symptoms. Oxygen is available in our vehicle.
