Maa Kamakhya Devalaya is considered highly sacred as it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the world. It is at the core of the powerful Tantrik Shaktism cult in India.

The tour of Kamakhya temple has a lot to offer! The temple has a deep, sacred significance which you can learn by exploring the premises of the temple. Itinerary Details

Day 1 - Arrival at Guwahati

Welcome to the lovely city of Guwahati! Upon arrival, you’ll meet our representative at the Airport/Railway station. From there on, you’ll be transported to your pre-booked hotel.

Today's Itinerary (Sightseeing)

Assam State Museum: Learn about the rich culture and heritage of Assam at this magnificent museum. (Please note that it is closed on public holidays)

Evening Sunset Cruise: Relish the cool winds on your sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River (optional). It can be availed by direct payment by the guests.

After the activities of the day, you’ll be assisted to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2 - Guwahati Sightseeing and Departure

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, the first sight on our tour today is Kamakhya Temple, located at Nilachal Hill. This is a highly revered temple as it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. If you wish to avoid queues, you can buy a pass at just â‚č501/person from the temple counters.

Also, while you’re at Nilachal Hill, you have a choice to visit a number of other temples, such as:

  • Tripureswari Temple
  • Maa Tara Temple
  • Maa Kali Temple
  • Maa Chhinnamasta Temple
  • Dhumavati Temple
  • Bagalamukhi Temple
  • Maa Bhubaneswari Temple
  • Maa Bandurga Temple

These temples are in the vicinity of Kamakhya Temple and therefore, it’s recommended to visit these temples as well and seek Darshan.

After the temple visits, next up is a tour to Umananda Temple. To reach there, get on the ferry (2 hour journey) to Peacock Island. This island is named so because of its beauty and shape. Another interesting thing about this island is that it is the smallest island in the world.

If there’s still time left, we recommend going for shopping at Fancy Bazaar to purchase souvenirs.

At last, you’ll be transported to Guwahati Airport/Railway Station from where you can continue your home-bound journey.

You should avoid visiting the temple during the monsoon season (June to September) due to heavy rainfall.
