Yamuna Pushkaralu Yatra from Delhi

Tour Overview

If you feel the need to pause and reconnect with your spiritual side, our 4 Days / 3 Nights Yamuna Pushkaralu Yatra from Delhi is designed just for you. This is not a normal trip. It also happens only when Jupiter enters Cancer. Starting from the heart of Delhi, we take you on a scenic journey through the misty mountains and holy towns of Uttarakhand. From the bustling riverbanks of Haridwar to the quiet, thin air of Yamunotri, this tour is a perfect mix of deep tradition and the calming beauty of nature.

Significance

In Indian tradition, the Yamuna is very much more than a riverβ€”she is the daughter of the Sun and the sister of Yamraj, the God of Death. It is also believed that a dip in her waters during the Pushkaralu period grants a person freedom from the fear of mortality and cleanses deep-seated karmic burdens. This 12-year time is also very special. People go to find peace, pray for family, and also feel very calm in the Himalayas.

Itinerary Details

Day 01 Delhi to Haridwar – (220 km | 5–6 hours)

Morning drive from Delhi to Haridwar. The journey is comfortable and mostly on plain roads. After hotel check-in, take some rest. In the evening, visit Har Ki Pauri for holy bath and attend the Ganga Aarti, which marks a calm and meaningful start to the Yatra.

What you'll do:

  • Arrival support in Delhi β€” Pickup from airport or railway station without confusion or delays.
  • Drive to Haridwar β€” Comfortable highway journey with short breaks.
  • Holy dip at Brahma Kund β€” A traditional starting ritual for pilgrims.
  • Evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri β€” Thousands of lamps floating on the river, bells ringing, priests chanting β€” it's intense, emotional, and unforgettable.
  • Optional visit to Mansa Devi Temple β€” Only if time and energy allow.

Note: Haridwar becomes extremely crowded during pilgrimage periods. Standing space near the Ghat fills quickly, and queues are long. Elderly travelers should avoid peak rush hours and stay closer to the hotel.

Overnight stay: Haridwar

Day 02 Haridwar to Barkot – (240 km | 8–9 hours)

Early departure towards Barkot via Dehradun and Mussoorie. The road slowly enters the hills, with cooler weather and scenic views. A short halt is taken at Kempty Falls if time permits. By evening, reach Barkot and rest for the next day's trek.

What you'll do:

  • Early morning departure β€” Helps avoid traffic and reach Barkot before dark.
  • Scenic mountain drive via Dehradun and Mussoorie β€” Forest roads, valleys, and distant peaks.
  • Short halt at Kempty Falls β€” Time and weather permitting.
  • Arrival and rest at Barkot β€” Early dinner and proper sleep before the trek.

Note: Mountain roads can be unpredictable. Landslides, traffic jams, and road repairs are common. Mobile networks weaken after Mussoorie. Carry basic medicines and keep expectations flexible.

Overnight stay: Barkot

Day 03 Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot

Early drive to Jankichatti, followed by a 6 km trek to Yamunotri. The climb is steady, so a slow pace is important. At Yamunotri, take a holy dip at Surya Kund, perform rituals at Divya Shila, and visit Yamunotri Temple. After darshan, return trek to Jankichatti and drive back to Barkot.

What you'll do:

  • Early drive to Jankichatti β€” Trek begins before crowds build up.
  • 6 km trek to Yamunotri β€” Walking, pony, or palki based on fitness.
  • Holy bath in Yamuna and Surya Kund β€” The core ritual of Yamuna Pushkaralu.
  • Divya Shila worship β€” A small but powerful ritual before temple darshan.
  • Return trek and drive back to Barkot

Trek support options (approx.):

  • Walking: 2.5–3 hours one way
  • Pony: β‚Ή3,000 per person
  • Palki: β‚Ή8,000–₹10,000 per person

Note: This trek is not easy. Elderly pilgrims, heart patients, or people with knee pain should seriously consider Palki services. Weather can change quickly β€” rain, fog, or cold winds are common even in summer. Start early, walk slow, and stay hydrated.

Overnight stay: Barkot

Day 04 Barkot to Delhi – (350 km | 9–10 hours)

Morning departure from Barkot and long return drive to Delhi. The route gradually descends from the hills to the plains. Arrival in Delhi by evening, marking the end of the journey.
