Varanasi Prayagraj Bodhgaya Tour itinerary

Day 01 Arrive in Varanasi

When you arrive at Varanasi Airport or Railway Station, our Pilgrimagetour representative will meet you and take you to the hotel for check-in and some rest. If you choose a guide, they will come with the driver to help you during the trip.

Next, explore the sights of Varanasi:

  • Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple
  • Annapurna Temple
  • Vishalakshi Temple
  • Baba Kal Bhairav Temple

Take an optional boat ride on the Ganges to enjoy the beautiful Ghats. Later, watch the world-famous Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, either from the Ghat or from a private boat to experience the city’s deep spiritual traditions.

Stay overnight in Varanasi.

Note: Kashi Vishwanath Temple opens from 3:00 AM to 11:00 PM every day.

Day 02 Varanasi - Bodhgaya (248 kms/4-5hrs)

  • After breakfast, proceed to Bodh Gaya. On arrival visit the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you can enjoy the peaceful gardens and see old stone artwork.
  • After that, visit other important spots like the Mahabodhi Tree, where Gautam Buddha meditated, Muchalinda Lake (perfect for photography) and see the 80-foot Buddha Statue.
  • You can also explore Wat Thai Temple, Japanese Temple, Bhutanese Temple, Maitreya Buddha (White Buddha) and Karma Temple, where Tibetan monks can often be seen.
  • After sightseeing, take some time to relax at your hotel in Bodh Gaya.

Day 03 Bodhgaya - Gaya - Varanasi (Approx. 248 kms/5-6hrs)

  • Morning, drive to Gaya, and once you reach, perform Pind Daan at Vishnu Pad Mandir.
  • Next, visit Phalgu Nadi, Brahmani Ghat, Gayatri Ghat, Sita Kund (a holy pond where Goddess Sita took a holy bath), and Maa Sarva Mangla Gauri (a Shaktipeeth Temple where Goddess Sati’s breast fell).

Day 04 Varanasi - Prayagraj - Varanasi (240 - 250 km/5-7hrs)

  • Once you finish breakfast, travel to Prayagraj.
  • Visit the Triveni Sangam for a holy dip and rituals.
  • Take a boat ride at the Triveni Sangam and keep your camera ready to capture amazing views where the three rivers meet.
  • Then go to Bade Hanuman Mandir for Darshan.
  • Explore the holy Akshayavat Tree in Prayagraj Fort; it is believed that Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman once rested here.
  • Go to Prayagraj Fort, also called Allahabad Fort, built by Akbar in 1583, next to the Yamuna River.
  • Continue the journey to Alopi Devi Temple, a rare temple where the idol of the goddess is not present (no Murti).
  • If time permits, also explore Lalita Devi Temple, Shri Nagvasuki Temple and Anand Bhavan (home of the Nehru family).
  • Drive back to Varanasi. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

Note: Allahabad Fort is large so make sure to wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking.

Day 05 Varanasi – Sarnath (10 km/ 30 min) & Departure

  • Start your morning with a boat ride on the Ganges and see the beautiful Ghats like Assi, Manikarnika, and Harishchandra.
  • Guests can take a holy bath in the Ganga for a spiritual experience and visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple (optional).
  • After that, explore some of Varanasi’s well-known temple, like the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, founded by Tulsidas Ji, who wrote the Hanuman Chalisa.
  • Also, go to the famous Durga Mandir, Tulsi Manas Temple, and New Vishwanath Temple.
  • Now proceed to BHU campus, popular for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful architecture (great photography spot).
  • In the afternoon, travel to Sarnath, the holy place where Lord Buddha gave his first teaching.
  • Don’t miss visiting the Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, several Buddhist temples, and the Sarnath Archaeological Museum while you are here.
  • In the evening you will be taken to the airport or railway station to catch your flight or train for your next destination.
