Itinerary Details

Day 01 Chennai - Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry (160 km/3.5-4hrs)

You’ll be picked up from your chosen spot in Chennai airport or railway station to start the tour. Our Pilgrimagetour team will receive you and take you for Mahabalipuram sightseeing. If you include a guide, he will come with the driver and assist you in the tour.

After pick-up, you will start your journey and visit-

  • Krishna Mandapam- It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site – a rock-cut cave that surprises visitors with how such beautiful designs were made from a single stone.
  • Arjuna’s Penance
  • Cave Temples
  • Pancha Rathas- Also known as the Five Rathas or Pandava Rathas, it is around 1400-year-old site that looks magical during sunset and is a perfect spot for photos.

After completing the sightseeing in Mahabalipuram, you will proceed to Pondicherry. On arrival, check into the hotel. Overnight stay in Pondicherry.

Note- Krishna Mandapam is open daily from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Day 02 Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Kumbakonam (Approx. 133 km/ 2.5 hrs)

  • After breakfast visit the golden Auroville Matrimandir, surrounded by greenery and peace. People from 50+ countries live here together, and the beautiful view is perfect for photos.
  • Next, explore Sri Aurobindo Ashram, one of India’s richest and most peaceful ashram.
  • Then, go to the Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, and then explore the Puducherry Museum, where you’ll see rare ancient South Indian idols, old Roman coins, and French furniture.
  • Now, proceed to Chidambaram, known for the Thillai Nataraja Temple — the sacred place where Lord Shiva performed the divine dance called Tandava.
  • After that, continue your journey to Gangaikonda Cholapuram and visit the ancient Brihadeeswarar Temple.
  • Next, travel to Kumbakonam, and once you reach, check in at your hotel.
  • Overnight stay in Kumbakonam.

Note- Puducherry Museum is closed on Mondays and national holidays.

Day 03 Kumbakonam - Thanjavur -Tiruchirappalli (Approx. 100 Kms/ 2.5 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel and explore Kumbakonam, known as the temple city. Visit the Adi Kumbeswarar Temple, Mahamaham Tank, and the Airavatesvara Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) at Darasuram.
  • Later, drive to Thanjavur and go to the Brihadeeswara Temple, built more than 1,000 years ago without cement, and even after a long time, it still stands strong and beautiful.
  • Next, visit Thanjavur Palace, known for its beautiful architecture, and old royal charm (a perfect spot for photography.).
  • Then visit the nearby Thanjavur Art Gallery.
  • Once sightseeing is done, travel to Tiruchirappalli. After arriving, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 04 Tiruchirappalli - Madurai (135 km/ 2-3 hrs)

  • After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed for sightseeing in Tiruchirappalli.
  • Your first stop is the Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple at Srirangam, which has a temple tower about 239 feet tall - the tallest in India.
  • Next, visit Jambukeswarar Akilandeswari Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
  • After that explore the Ucchi Pillayar Temple, built on Rockfort, where visitors can enjoy a great view of the city (Don’t forget to click some pictures! )
  • Next, walk into the Government Museum inside Rani Mangammal Mahal where you can see unique paintings, historical items, and fossils - these fascinating collections will truly amaze you!
  • Next, explore the Butterfly Park, a peaceful place filled with colorful butterflies and there’s also a small artificial waterfall. Then visit Nakshatra Vanam, a nearby garden perfect for a picnic.
  • After sightseeing, drive to Madurai.
  • After arriving in Madurai, check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 05 Madurai - Rameshwaram (173 km/ 3-4 hrs)

  • Have your breakfast and get ready to explore Madurai’s famous spots.
  • Go to the famous Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple near the Vaigai River. It’s one of the oldest temple, about 2,000 years old, and it looks even more beautiful with its glowing evening lights.
  • Next, visit Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple. The interesting fact about this temple is that it is built inside a hill.
  • Later, drive to Rameshwaram for your next stay.
  • On arrival check into the hotel.
  • In the evening, visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, Agnitheertham, and Ramjharoka Temple.
  • Overnight stay in Rameshwaram.

Day 06 In Rameswaram

  • Early in the morning, around 5:00 AM, proceed to the Spatika Linga Darshan, also called Mani Darshan, where the natural crystal Shivling (not man-made) is very important in Hinduism and looks very beautiful.
  • Later you will head out for Agni Teertham to have a holy bath in the sea.
  • Further proceed to the main temple through North gate and Take sacred bath with holy water of the 22 wells, inside the Ramanathaswamy Temple during Theerth Snanam.
  • Then proceed for darshan and pooja at the main temple.
  • After the holy bath and Darshan, return to the hotel for breakfast.
  • Later, explore Rameshwaram’s top attractions like the Five-Faced Hanuman Temple, Ramar Patham, Kothandaramaswamy Temple, and Gandamadana Parvatham (known for Lord Rama’s footprint). Also visit Rama Setu, Dr. Abdul Kalam’s House, and Dhanushkodi.
  • Overnight stay at Rameswaram.

Note- Carry some cash, as digital payments may not work in smaller shops near the temple.

Day 07 Rameswaram - Kanyakumari (312 km/ 7 hrs)

  • Visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple again in the morning, or take a Samudra Snanam (holy dip) in the sea.
  • Later, check out from the hotel and drive to Kanyakumari.
  • Kanyakumari is the only place where you can see both sunrise and sunset over the sea. On arrival, check in at the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 08 Kanyakumari - Kovalam - Thiruvananthapuram (98 Kms/2.5 Hrs)

  • Early in the morning, you can watch the beautiful sunrise in Kanyakumari. The calm atmosphere makes it a perfect time to take pictures.
  • After breakfast, visit the Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial, known for its peaceful meditation hall and stunning ocean views. If time allows, spend a few minutes meditating. Walk over the Sea by Glass bridge to reach Thiruvalluvar Statue.
  • After breakfast visit Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial - built on a small rock surrounded by the sea on all sides. The beautiful ocean view from here is perfect for photographers and nature lovers.
  • Then go to Kanyakumari Mandir (Kumari Amman Temple), this temple is built in Kerala-style architecture, so just get ready to click photos.
  • Visit Triveni Sangam – the meeting point of three oceans.
  • Then, travel to Gandhi Mandapam, where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were kept before being placed in the sea. Also, see the tall Thiruvalluvar Statue, dedicated to the great Tamil poet.
  • On the way to Trivandrum, visit Thanumalayan Temple famous for its stunning design and a 22-foot-tall Lord Hanuman statue.
  • Visit the famous Padmanabhapuram Palace, made mostly of wood, and known for its unique look - a true masterpiece of Kerala’s traditional architecture.
  • If time permits, go to Kovalam Beach, then drive to Trivandrum.
  • On arrival, check into the hotel, then visit the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.Overnight stay at Trivandrum.

Day 09 Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) (Departure)
