Gujarat is a large state, and its temple towns are far apart. Dwarka alone is about 450 km from Ahmedabad by road, so a few days on this route involve long drives. We plan the route so you never double back, and we take care of your hotel stays, daily breakfast and a private vehicle from the time you reach Ahmedabad until you leave on Day 7. In short, it is a Dwarka Somnath tour from Hyderabad with Porbandar, Rajkot and Ahmedabad added on the way.
This tour starts and ends in Ahmedabad, so you first need to get there from Hyderabad. This journey is not part of the tour price.

The road part of the tour is a loop that starts and ends in Ahmedabad. The only stretch you cover twice is the Day 3 round trip from Dwarka to Bet Dwarka. Road distances are approximate and depend on the exact route the driver takes.
October to March is the best time for this tour. Days are pleasant for long drives, and evenings in December and January turn cool.

If your dates fall around Janmashtami (August or September), expect very large crowds and long queues in Dwarka.

Our Gujarat tour begins with your flight or train from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad. As soon as you arrive, our representative meets you and takes you to your pre-booked hotel. Rest well. Tomorrow is the longest drive of the tour.
Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.
Leave Ahmedabad early after breakfast for Dwarka, the town of Lord Krishna on the Arabian Sea coast. We stop for tea and lunch on the way and reach Dwarka by late afternoon or evening.
After check-in, visit the Dwarkadhish Temple to seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Gujarat Tourism lists evening visiting hours of 5 PM to 9 PM, so an evening arrival still leaves time for darshan. You can also take a holy dip at Gomti Ghat, where the Gomti River meets the sea.
Overnight stay in Dwarka.
Start after breakfast with Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, about 17 km from Dwarka and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. From there, stop at Gopi Talav and continue to Bet Dwarka, about 30 km from Dwarka.
Bet Dwarka is linked to Okha by Sudarshan Setu, so you drive across instead of depending on the ferry. The Bet Dwarka temple closes in the afternoon, which is why we aim to get there before noon.
On the way back, stop at the Rukmini Devi Temple, about 2 km from Dwarka town. The evening is free for another Darshan at Dwarkadhish Temple.
Overnight stay in Dwarka.
Leave Dwarka after breakfast. The first stop is Porbandar, about 105 km away, for Kirti Mandir, built next to the house where Mahatma Gandhi was born, and the Sudama Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna's childhood friend Sudama.
From Porbandar, Somnath is about 130 km away, a drive of around 2.5 to 3 hours. In Somnath, visit Somnath Temple, the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas, along with Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sangam (where the Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati rivers meet), Gita Mandir and Somnath Chowpatty. The order depends on your arrival time.
Plan your evening around the temple schedule. According to the Shree Somnath Trust, the evening Aarti is at 7 PM and the light and sound show runs from 8 to 9 PM. The show is not held during the monsoon.
Overnight stay in Somnath.
Drive towards Rajkot on the Junagadh route. The first stop is Uparkot Fort in Junagadh, about 90 km from Somnath, followed by the Jalaram Bapa Temple in Virpur.
Gondal comes next, with the Swaminarayan Temple, Naulakha Palace and the royal vintage car collection. The palace museum and car collection are privately managed, so entry depends on their timings and permission on the day. Rajkot is a short drive from Gondal.

The drive from Rajkot to Ahmedabad is about 215 km, or 4 to 5 hours. Adalaj and Gandhinagar sit just north of Ahmedabad and add some city driving.
See the carved Adalaj Stepwell and visit Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar, which opens at 10 AM and is closed every Monday. We will also pay homage to the Father of the Nation at the historic Gandhi Ashram (Sabarmati Ashram). Parts of the ashram campus may be closed because of ongoing redevelopment work.

After breakfast, our representative drops you at Ahmedabad airport or railway station for your journey back to Hyderabad. This is the end of our services.

Ans: Daily breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are not. Eating vegetarian is easy on this route, since most restaurants in Dwarka and Somnath serve only vegetarian food. If you need Jain food, tell us at the time of booking. Gujarat is a dry state, so hotels and restaurants do not serve alcohol without a permit.
Ans: No. Your journey from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad and back is not covered. We pick you up from and drop you back to the airport or railway station in Ahmedabad.

Ans: October to March. The weather suits long drives and temple visits. April to June gets very hot, and in the monsoon (July to September) rain slows the roads and the Somnath light and sound show is not held.
Ans: Seven days covers Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Somnath, Porbandar and Ahmedabad, but it is not a slow trip. Day 2 is an 8 to 9 hour drive, and Days 4 to 6 each pair a long drive with several stops. Ans: Yes, if they can manage long road journeys, especially the drive to Dwarka on Day 2. Dwarkadhish Temple stands at the top of more than 50 steps. At Somnath Temple, wheelchairs and golf carts are available at the main gate, and there is a lift inside. Tell us about any mobility needs when you book.
