We first head for the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This temple is often referred to as ‘golden temple’ and is a revered lord Shiva Jyotirlinga. This shrine is held to be some 3500 years old. After Darshan and Puja at Kashi Vishwanath temple, we proceed towards visiting some of the other places of Varanasi such as Sankat Mochan temple, Tulsi Manas temple, Kathwala temple, Bharath Mata temple, Alamgir mosque.

Sankat Mochan temple falls next in our sightseeing agenda. This temple belongs to Lord Hanuman and stands along Assi River. Freedom fighter and famed educationist Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya took the initiative of setting up this temple. Prasad at the temple consists in delicious Besan ki Laddoo which you can enjoy here. After Sankat Mochan temple we visit the Tulsi Manas temple, a beautiful temple made out of white marble and belonging to Lord Rama. The temple walls bear inscriptions from Tulsidas’ epic Ramcharitmanas. After this we visit the Kathwala temple. Brilliant wood work and architecture of the temple will surely captivate your attention. Next we visit the Bharat mata mandir that belongs to mother India. The country’s relief map engraved on marble is the chief highlight of this temple. After this we proceed to visit the Alamgir mosque. This mosque is believed to have been set up by Aurangzeb and shows a beautiful fusion of Mughal and north Indian temple architectures.

After this we proceed to visit some of the famous Ghats of Varanasi such as Manikarnika Ghat, Assi Ghat, Dasaswamedh Ghat. Manikarnika Ghat is considered to be the place which can give one Moksha. Assi Ghat is said to be the place where all sins are washed away through a holy dip. Dasaswamedh Ghat is famed enough for the evening Ganga Aarti which definitely we will not miss. If there’s time at hand we may even go for a serene boat ride on the Ganges.
