The city is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh and is popular among Hindus for the religious reasons. There are a number of places that one can visit while staying in Mathura.

The land of lord Krishna is a popular holy place for the devotees. It is believed that Lord Krishna who lived around 3500 years back was born in this city only. According to popular tales, Lord Krishna was born here when his father was imprisoned by his maternal uncle King Kansa. If you visit the city you will find the colors of Sri Krishna. There is a big temple surrounded by the arcades of shops that sell Krishna souvenirs. Quite interestingly there is also Katra-Masjid, which was built by Aurangzeb, which is provided by the security personnel after the Ayodhya incident. There is a tank called as Potara Kund, which is almost 200 meters away. This is the same place where baby Krishna’s nappies were supposedly washed.

<div id="ez-toc-container" class="ez-toc-v2_0_83 counter-hierarchy ez-toc-counter ez-toc-grey
