Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple also houses idols of other deities, including Goddess Parvati. Discovered by Adi Shankaracharya, the current priest hails from the local Brahmin community in Makku village.<\/p>\n
During the winter months, the symbolic idol of Lord Shiva is ceremoniously transported to Mukunath, located 19 kilometers away. The trek to Mukunath unfolds through picturesque green meadows, enchanting rhododendron bushes, and challenging rocky terrains, offering a breathtaking encounter with nature. The panoramic views of the Himalayas instill confidence in the hearts of trekkers, with various named and unnamed peaks visible from Tungnath.<\/p>\n
The Tungnath Temple portal is set to open on May 2, 2026. The optimal time for a visit to Tungnath Mandir is from April to June, marking the peak season for the Tungnath Temple Tour. In the winter months, heavy snowfall renders the location inaccessible for devotees.
