Badami is a small town located in Karnataka. Badami, previously referred to as Vatapi, is a municipality and administrative center of a Taluk bearing the same name, situated in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India. The Badami cave temples are a set of temples situated at Badami, a town in the Bagalkot District in the north part of Karnataka, India. The cave temples are considered as an example of Indian rock-cut architecture, in particular Badami Chalukyas Architecture. The Badami cave temples are composed of four caves all engraved out of the soft Badami sandstone on a hill cliff in the late 6th to 7th centuries.
