Maa Mahagauri: Eighth Form of Maa Durga

Mahagauri is the Eighth avatar of Goddess Durga and is worshiped on the 8th day of Navratri . She is known as the White Goddess , Her fairness and beauty is even compared to moon and Kund flowers. The clothes and the jewelry worn by her also of white color. She rides a white bull. The other name of Maa Mahagauri is Shwetambardhara . She calms down the worshiper and give them peace and improve their knowledge .

Maa Mahagauri Stuti Mantra: The Mantra for worshipping Maa Mahagauri

या देवी सर्वभू‍तेषु माँ गौरी रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नम: ॥

This Mantra helps achieving all the goals of life and removes sorrow from life.

Maa Mahadurga is worshiped because there is a legend that Maa Mahadurga gives freedom to the world from evil forces. She was gifted with three eyes and four hands . All of her hands are always busy , the lower right hand has a Trishul in it , the upper right hand is in the mudra of reducing the intensity of fears . Whereas her lower left hand is in the pose of granting wellness to her worshipers and there is a Damroo in her upper left. Mahagauri holds Trishul and Damroo , which closely relates to Lord Shiva. Goddess symbolizes the innocence of a child as the unwavering determination needed to fulfill her arduous meditation.

History

Due to hard and intense of her arduous Tapasya, her body gets shriveled and blackened, then Lord Shiva came and moved Mata’s body from her devotion , and take her as his consort and washed her body with the pure water of river Ganga , after which Mata’s body again gets back to normal and became shinning white and returned to the fresh vitality of 8 yrs old, because this is the age at which the goddess first time heard the words of Narad Muni, who came to her to find the most compatible and perfect bride-groom , Shiva as her consort.

Mahagauri fulfills all the needs of her worshipers , she is never biased to anyone. The worshipers of Maa Mahadurga always remain calm and it is very beneficial, once they come to worship Maa Mahadurga they never returned empty-handed , Her power is certain and instantly fruitful . After worshiping her the worshipers gets rid of their sins and sufferings and he gets purified in all aspects of life. With the blessing of this deity, worshiper gets the divine perfection of Universe. She advocates her devotees toward the path of truth and purity.

It is said that Maa Mahagauri never asks for much but only expects for an impure free prayer. Her devotees can make her happy with small and simple greetings as Maa Mahagauri likes simple things. It is also said that before worshiping her you have to worship Lord Shiva and she can be happier if you worship her whole family.
