Summer (April to June)
The summer season starts in April and continues till June. It is considered to be the best time to visit Kedarnath. During this time of the year, the average temperature ranges from around 15°C to 30°C. During the summer Kedarnath experiences cool breeze and mild warmth, making the weather pleasant. Kedarnath yatra starts in May with cool and comfortable weather. In June, Kedarnath experiences sunny weather and is ideal for visiting the shrine. Bhairavnath Temple, Gauri Kund, and Tungnath Temple are the major attractions that you can visit during this season.
 Monsoon (July till September)
Planning a Kedarnath Yatra is not recommended during the monsoon season as the region experiences heavy rainfall. During this time of the year, chances of landslides increase, and several delays in the journey due to the blockage of routes. During monsoon, the temperature of Kedarnath is between 15°C and 12°C. The monsoon starts in July in Kedarnath, and the region receives an average amount of rainfall. The average temperature during this season ranges between 6°C and 15°C. The rainy and cloudy weather makes the yatra very challenging. In August, the average temperature is between 8°C and 14°C. The nights become very cold during this month and days remain humid. Therefore, if you’re travelling during this month you’re recommended to carry an umbrella and a raincoat.
Winter (October till March)
During the winter season, freezing weather and sub-zero temperatures are experienced by the region. During this time of the year, the temple remains shut due to heavy snowfall. Sometimes the average temperature ranges between 0°C and 20°C and there are sunny days too. You can visit Kedarnath during this season if you want to explore the breathtaking beauty of the snow-capped peaks. In the winter season, Lord Kedar’s idol is shifted to Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath from Kedarnath Temple. Therefore, in winter pilgrims can visit Omkareshwar Temple and seek Lord Kedarnath’s blessings. In December, the average temperature in the region varies between -15°C and -2°C. Heavy snowfall is received by the region during this month, because of which the routes get blocked.
