Helicopter Service for Badrinath

The Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra 2024 is set to commence with the opening of Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath Dham on May 10. Authorities have been diligently preparing for the success of this year’s pilgrimage. The Civil Aviation Department of Uttarakhand has finalized arrangements for helicopter services, including the debut of services to Badrinath Dham, alongside the annual operations to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib.

Traditionally, helicopter services have been available for Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib during the Chardham Yatra. However, in 2024, pilgrims visiting Badrinath Dham will also have access to helicopter services, marking a significant enhancement in travel options.

Booking for helicopter services will open on April 10, with the Civil Aviation Department initiating preparations well in advance of the journey’s commencement. Nine helicopter operators will facilitate travel for pilgrims to Kedarnath Dham, an increase from the previous year. Additionally, fares for helicopter services have been revised, with a five percent increase compared to previous years.

Helicopter operations for Kedarnath Dham will begin on May 10, coinciding with the opening of the temple gates. The proposed fares from various departure points to Kedarnath Dham have been set, providing transparency to travelers.

Furthermore, the gates of Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site, will open on May 25. Helicopter services will operate from Govindghat to Ghangaria starting on the same day, with revised fares from the previous year.

In summary, the introduction of helicopter services to Badrinath Dham and the enhancements made to existing services demonstrate the commitment of authorities to facilitate a smooth and convenient pilgrimage experience for travelers embarking on the Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra 2024.
