Welcome to this helicopter Chota Chardham yatra. Please arrive at Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun at the designated time where our staff and pilot will brief you about the trip and give important information. The itinerary for the char dham yatra of 4 nights 5 days will be along the following lines.
7.00 AM Helicopter departure from Sahastradhara helipad (check in at least an hour before flight departure)
7.45 AM: Arrival at Kharsali Helipad for Yamunotri
Ground staff welcomes pilgrims and helps them to unload baggage and transfer to hotel at Kharsali. The chosen hotel is Shiv Shakti Eco Resort, just 10 km on foot from the Kharsali helipad.
Pilgrims freshen up and pack a small handbag for the yatra to sacred Yamunotri and get into the waiting palanquins. It is a 5.5 km walk and some devotees may opt to walk and accompany the group. It takes about 5.5 hours on foot to reach Yamunotri and return to Kharsali. Pilgrims return to Kharsali after the obligatory dip in the kund and prayers at the temple just in time for lunch at the resort. The afternoon is free for rest or for local sightseeing and, in the evening, everyone gets together for a visit to the Shani temple in the vicinity before retiring for the night.
7.45 AM Departure from Kharsali helipad
8.30 AM Arrival at Harsil Helipad near Gangotri
Pilgrims admire the Himalayan scenery during the short flight and arrive at Harsali, a beautiful town that is reminiscent of Switzerland. On landing they get into a waiting car that drives 22 km to reach the Gangotri temple in about an hour. Pilgrims perform the sacred duties and then the car takes them back to Harsil to the Himalayan Nature Resort, 2 km from the helipad. A delicious lunch is served and pilgrims relax before they explore the town and its surroundings on their own and do some shopping. When the sun sets it is time for a large bonfire and a get together followed by dinner before retiring for the night.
9.00 AM Depart Harsil
10.00 AM Arrive at Kedarnath helipad
When airborne pilgrims get to admire the Himalayan view during the hour long flight and then the helicopter lands at the helipad, which is just 500 metres from the Kedarnath temple. One has to climb a slope and it takes about 20 minutes to negotiate the distance and reach the temple for darshan and pooja. Pilgrims return to the helicopter that transports them to Guptakashi/Sitapur for the night halt. Lunch is followed by rest or shot trips to interesting places in the vicinity such as the Triyuginarayan temple.
10.15 AM depart Guptakashi helipad for Badrinath
11.00 AM Arrive at Badrinath helipad
The magnificent view keeps pilgrims rivetted as the helicopter flies and eventually lands at Badrinath helipad. They walk and check in at Hotel Sarovar Portico, a stone’s throw from the temple, freshen up and visit the Badrinath temple where our staff has made arrangements for priority darshan. The group then returns to the hotel for lunch and rest. In the evening everyone gathers to visit Mana village, the last Indian outpost close to the Chinese border. They return to the hotel for the night. Next day pilgrims rise early for the Special Abhishek Pooja starting at 4.30 AM in the morning and lasting all of 2 hours. We arrange for pilgrims to get inside the temple and have a darshan of the Lord. The pooja over, pilgrims are free to explore nearby areas of interest.
11.30 AM Depart Badrinath
12.30 AM: Arrive at Sahastradhara
The Chardham helicopter yatra ends on arrival at Sahastradhara and our staff bid a fond farewell to pilgrims and assist with onward transport assistance if required.
