About Badrinath temple: Badrinath is unique in that it is also part of the major chardham circuit. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple marks the spot where He spent ages in meditation in bitter cold and Goddess Laxmi assumed the form of a Badri tree to protect him. Badrinath is a beautiful place nestling in the Nar Narayan mountain ranges with the Neelkanth peak towering over the temple.
Kedarnath is one of the 12 jyotirlingas and has a number of legends, notable of which is that of the Pandavas pursuing Lord Shiva for his forgiveness but he kept on eluding them by assuming the shape of a bull and hiding underground. When he could no longer remain hidden his body split into five parts and the hump remains at Kedarnath while the other parts are part of the Panch Kedars.
